Ten Weeks until Christmas

Where does the year go?! I cannot believe it is time to make and write christmas cards. Time to make and wrap presents. Time to get out christmas music and decorations. It is coming round so quick!

No, I'm not playing! For years, when my children were small and I was living on next to nothing I started preparing for Christmas in August (yes, August) after my son's birthday. Every week I would buy small presents and hide them away (sometimes I didn't find them until Easter, but that's another story) and treats to stash away to be eaten at Christmas - my kids loved checking out what was in the cupboard - and I'd make Christmas cake, dozens of mince pies, biscuits, sausage rolls etc., until I was sick of the sight of it all.

Now I have the grandchildren to buy for, but as I’m no longer living on a pittance I’ve joined the ‘keep Christmas in December’ club and am now practicing brinkmanship by buying over the internet and doing nothing else until the day before Christmas Eve - much less stressful!

I have to confess to being an early xmas shopper! I hate the shops when they are busy and usually getill when the reak cold sets in, so tend to do as much for my son as early as I can, and already have half the stuff for this year, but do leave till dec all the really christmasy bits like the baking etc just to get into the spirit of things!
