Carbocysteine, mum was on it for a month. . She is still coughing thick mucousy stuff, should she be taking it for longer than a month.

Hello Conner, this depends on whether your mum is still coughing up. Some take carbocisteine continuously.

Hello Connor.......I take two Carbocistine morning and evening they are for as long as I need them.... they keep the mucus thin, so easier to bring up and they do help keep infections at bay.

I've been on 2 twice a day for about 3 years as a maintenance dose.

I take one in morning and one at night, if I have difficulty coughing I take one at lunch time as well
