I went for my appointment yesterday and my heart rate was fast so the Dr said and as for the chest pain I have to go straight to hospital when it happens again he mentioned nothing about the sweats I am getting it was a waste of time seeing him I like my usual Dr not the one I saw.

How disappointing. Modern GPs have no 'bedside manner' these days. The good ones are few and far between.

I will be making an appointment with my usual Dr as he always has time for people, and so caring too.

They're trying to change that in the future so it should be like it was years ago so you always see the same one. Fingers crossed. I just hope you can choose at the start 🙏 😉

How very frustrating not to get a proper answer. If he really thinks you should go straight to hospital in future, why didn't he send you there from your appointment?! When I saw my GP about chest pains I was sent straight to the hospital for a suspected heart attack. Heart attack was ruled out so my GP gave me medication for angina to try. Good luck with seeing your usual doctor, hope he's more helpful. xx

A very fast heart rate can also indicate tachycardia, which has a number of different causes. It happened to my mother, who had COPD, when she had a serious chest infection back in 2014 and we were told she could go either way. She ended up on HDU for 2 weeks so the best thing to do is go over to A&E. The cause needs to be found out. My mother had to have medications to get her heart back to a normal rhythm, along with IV antibiotics as the cause was her chest infection causing an exacerbation.
