Hi Sue

I was interested in your post on the Oriform. I was wondering when you say your breathing is shocking is it from anxiety or from COPD. I suffer with bad Emphysema and have terrible breathlessness and anxiety/panic attacks which are worse when I take Symbicort and Atrovent as it makes my heart go mad which of course makes the anxiety worse. I am on such a low dose now to help slow my heart down that its not helping my breathlessness. Ive never heard of that drug before. Is it a puffer? I live in Australia so not even sure they have it here. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Danielle, Thankyou for your reply, It is a type of Morphine i think, I have had COPD for 7 years but now my breathing is awful so they are trying me on this, Been on two a day of just 1.25m, Very low dose but so far not noticed any difference, Supposed to help breathing in some people just wondered if any one else was on it, Actually quite scared of it, Sue

Hi sueray, I'm wondering if you mean oramorph if so I was prescribed this to ease breathlessness several years ago. I didn't find that 1.25ml helped at all but when I increased the dose to 2.5ml found that it helped considerably. My prescription is for 2.5ml to 5ml as required. I don't know what your prescription says but a slightly higher dose may be more effective if you are allowed it. If not go back to your doctor and discuss it. Best wishes.

Hi yes sorry it is Oramorph, When the doctor prescribed it 2.5 4 times a day i was a bit worried about taking it so he said try 1.25 to start, Which i have but only twice a day, You have put my mind at ease so i will try 2.5 twice a day as from tmoz and see what happens, Thank you so much for your help, Heres hoping it will help me and you take care of yourself, Sue

Yes, I was wary too at first. I don't think you need to worry about trying the higher dose and I hope that you find it helpful. Carole.

Watch out, Oramorph tends to bind you up. You might need a purgative with it. Also, no alcohol.

Hi! My palliative consultant suggested oramorph but I had a bad reaction to morphine following surgery so I'm on 1.25 ml of oxycodine 3 or 4 times a day. It helps a little.

It really is so scary. Just try the meds for few days and see how you go. I hope it helps ease your breathing.
