Cats are easier than dogs so if you think you can give one a good life than why not. However I would get one a year or 2 old so you haven't got to do any training.

I would also make sure others would be able to take it to the vets if you can't and would be able to take it on if anything happened to you. Don't forget cats can often live to 17 plus.

A lot of lungies can tolerate cat hair just fine like me but if you can then I would get a short haired moggy just to be on the safe side.

Just adopted this three year old ragdoll. Personally I feel the benefits far outweigh any problems.

My new cat. A colour point ragdoll.

Sadly, there are loads of cats looking for new homes at the moment because of all the people giving up their lockdown pets. I'm sure you'll find a pet to treasure, like we found our Tarbie last year

Hi and welcome to the site. Have you had cats before? If you have then you know if you are going to be ok. If not then why not foster one for a few weeks and see how you feel. There are so many unwanted animals especially older cats and dogs, it may be worth looking into this. Good luck x

I have a Persian cat. They don’t moult but they are very high maintenance & require a lot of grooming. I brush her 3 times daily with a wire brush & she is professionally groomed as well to remove the undercoat when the seasons change. But it’s worth it as no cat hairs to clear up!! 😊 She is 19.5 years old.
