Back to ? NORMAL ?. Not keen.!!!!!

I'm due back at work 03/08/20. I've booked 3 weeks annual leave so back 25/08/20 instead. Not keen at all to return to ? Normal life?. I hear the supermarkets are a nightmare. I normally have a van for work and pick two people up. I've told my boss "i will use my car for work, but just for me". He is good with that and even offered 45p per mile. He is a good boss.

Same here, and same here. As well as finding a face covering I can breathe with.

I have two jobs. One is as a supervisory assistant at the school, due back 11th August (I’m in Scotland). The other is as a youth worker, return date would normally be 21st August but don’t know when the youth clubs will reopen. Other than walking the dogs since we were let out for exercise in June, I haven’t been anywhere apart from a hospital visit for X-ray last week since March. Really don’t know what will happen with my job as I have no idea how I’m supposed to socially distance in either job. Part of me is not very keen to move back to ‘normal’ but I would also kind of like to have a similar potential exposure to the virus as my school age children, because I don’t want them to feel responsible for giving the virus to me if I got it (not that they would be responsible, just I know they would feel that way).

I suppose it depends what your normal is. I was unable to get out for the previous 2 years, but still changes, my friends could not visit, my weekly carer wears a mask, so if hard of hearing, could not lip read. My regular supermarket shop, suddenly went haywire, as all these other people suddenly realised they needed to use this. Had I been in my old job (working with patients in their own homes or on the wards) would have to have continued, in very different clothing!! If employers are careful and sensible, should be able to partially mitigate the problem, but none of us can be totally safe. We have forgotten what previous generations went through with things like polio, small pox and other illnesses that could not be treated and will have to relearn some of their methods of living.

I can’t say I blame you if you don’t go back. People just don’t care and are walking around as if nothing is going on.
