Morning all from.a sunny Leicester England. I'm k oxygen 24/7 and have recently noticed that when I wake up in the morning I have a headache...not every morning but probably 4 x week. I'm on 2 litre overnight. Anyone else had this? I'm fine the rest of the day no headaches.

Oxygen therapy..headaches in morning
Hi cazza34, contact your respiratoy nurse, you could be retainig Co2, the morning headaches are one of the signs of retention.
I was put on oxygen 24/7 in April 2017 after suffering from Type II Respiratory Failure, I was on 1 litre at rest and 2 litres ambulatory, I couldn't go above 2 litres, because I retain Co2 , I had ad Sleep Study test done in October 2017 and it was disovered my oxygen levels dropped dangerously low at bedtime.
Eventually in January 2018 I was put on BiPAP as well as oxygen at bedtime, since using BiPAP it has given me my life back, I now only use ambulatory oxygen between 2 and 5 litres and 1 litre oxygen and BiPAP at bedtime.
I hope I been some help.
Ian.
Morning Hun, I too am a CO2 Retainer and like you have a Headache on waking up, I know what the problem is, But Try and get the Oxygen Nurses to come is a Headache in itself, I am in Contact with Respiratory always, and so is my GP. Last time, last Year they came and were very Good, said I need to turn my level 2 down to 1 as this was creating the CD retention when Sleeping. During the day I am on level 2 and 3 for my Mobile when Moving/Exercise. Hope you get this sorted asap. Good Luck. XXX C.
It could be down to dehydration. Like you I’m on overnight o2 but I only get a headache if I don’t drink enough before bedtime. I also take a glass of water to bed with me. Hope you sort your issues out soon. Good luck
