After weaning prednisone from 40mg to 20mg in 5 months I am now at 18 mg during 8 days suffering only fatigue with dyspnea with continuous oxygen.

Could this be withdrawal or maybe the underlying disease is returning?

I have recently weaned from 40 mg a day now down to 12 mg and have been as low as 8 mg. My visiting nurse tells me that unless I have inflammation the steroids do very little if anything to help me breathe better. In 4 years I have never dropped below 8 mg a day without experiencing severe distress.
