Hi all!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make sleeping with a nasal cannulas less irritating. I feel like my sinuses are on fire. By morning they are so sore and dry.

You can try wearing the cannula differently for a couple of hours, for example with the prongs facing up instead of down. This puts pressure on different bits of the nose and so gives the sore bits a rest. Another tip is wearing the cannula backwards, passing the loop over your head, slipping the prongs into your nose and tightening the slider at the back of the head. You can also try K-Y jelly. Water based products can ease it a lot. Just be careful not to use anything which is oil/petroleum based as it can cause a fire risk. You may also want to ask your supplier about using a humidifier.

Unless you have long prongs I cannot see why you are having trouble with them, how often do you change them for new ones ? Try the KY like they have suggested then if you are still having trouble tell your oxygen nurse xx
