Mucus thinners

What do people use? Been waking with congestion in the morning that I struggle to clear.

Depends, nasal or lungs?

I use a steroid nasal spray prescribed by GP (I ran out once and bought some at the chemists).

Lungs? Carbocysteine, also prescribed by GP.

A version you can buy over the counter is NAC - short for N-Acetyl Cysteine. Please do write NAC in the search box top right for more information on it.

Other than that, steaming (though some can't tolerate steam I find it beneficial, drinking plenty of non caffeinated/non fizzy drinks.

Some people believe dairy products or bananas are mucus forming foods, you could eliminate for a couple of weeks to see if it makes a difference.

Bananas and dairy definitely seem to increae mucus!

I think it is a mixture of both nasal and lungs. I constantly bring up thick white phlegm without coughing or clearing my throat but when I wake I def have phlegm in my lungs that I need to clear. I try the huffing technique and works sometimes but not always.

Will give those products a go

GP prescribed carbocisteine (twice a day every day) I also use a flutter device - search Google/Amazon about 40 - 50 quid

I tried Carbocisteine for about a year but found it ineffective. The best lung clearers for me are my daily nebs of Salbutamol and 0.9% Saline solution.
