Hi, I have just been diagnosed with trachealmalicia and am having a tough time dealing with it. I have been breathless for years and had many sprometry test with restrictive function showing up. I was also born with tracheal esophegal fistula and atresia that was repaired at birth.
Has anyone got any experience or knowledge of this?

Pete has been diagnosed with trachea malachia too Quinny and the Brompton confirmed this last week.
Pete can sometimes cough out and then not get a breath back in so his trachea goes floppy and Pete loses control momentarily. I am used to it now and just talk too him gently until he recovers.
I hope you can find out all you need to know and get all the help you need. Take care xxxxx
I have been diagnosed with tracheobronchomalacia where all the airways close up - this makes it difficult to bring the mucus up from my bronchiectasis. I too had problems at birth I believe I was born with a hiatus hernia.
I am always breathless and have a constant hacking cough.
I am waiting to commence a trial of CPAP which will hopefully help the airways to stay open. It isn't a proven treatment apparently but my specialists are of the opinion it will help.
I will update you when I start my trial if it works - I really hope it does as I can't walk anywhere at the present
