Hi any advice would be most welcome.
Hospital say I have centrilobular emphysema however lung function is pretty normal and not been given medication. My chest is clear and heart sounds normal.
Should I be concerned and what does all this mean. HELP

Hi, Bigdoo. If the medics haven't given you any meds and your lung function is pretty normal, it suggests your condition is very mild at present. Look on it as a wake-up call to live more healthily - healthy eating, regular exercise, avoid people with colds and flu, and avoid smoke and other noxious fumes. I've done these following advice from the lovely people here on HU, and stopped my COPD from progressing any further since December 2014.
Hi, if you'd like advice may be worth telling the rest of the story: In hospital? Referred? CT scan for what? They discovered it by accident, or you had symptoms that were being investigated?
Means you should give up smoking NOW if you've not already.

Its a long story went to gp due to a few lumps on the bottom of my legs. Doctor said it was erythma nodosum and was referred to chest clinic to rule out TB. Consultant did some blood tests and thought it would be best to have a ct scan. CT scan showed a 11x7mm nodule on lung I was then referred to lung specialist as TB was ruled out. Lung specialist sent me for pet scan fortunatley the nodule was not active however there was beginning of emphysema. My lungs were clear and heart normal. They are repeating ct scan in 3mths to make sure there is no change in the size of the nodule.
Yes I have stopped smoking and will see the lung specialist again after next CT scan.
I was asking for advice due to the fact I thought if you had emphysema your lung function would be low or there would be other symptoms.
Hope this explains all
