Collapsed Lung

I was left with a collapsed lung for four months before it was repaired with a thoracotomy. How much is the delay likely to have contributed to my increased breathing problems?

I've had a plate atelectasis untreated for months and the GP said it wasn't an issue... well, they would, wouldn't they.

However I doubt anyone on here could be definitive as how yours affected you or otherwise - unfortunately the only ones likely to know the answer are those that failed to diagnose/repair it sooner.. or their colleagues.

It's a disc shape (plate) formed by partial collapsed (atelectasis) lung: On x-ray it shows up like a near horizontal straightish line parallel to the diaphragm in a lower lobe of the lung .
