Diagnosis is only done on the best blow - it's no good taking, for example, your lung volume because you failed to take in a big enough breath once out of 3 attempts. So discarding a bad one won't make any difference.
Not only do they test three times |(minimum) but all three have to fall within a "banding" or they will repeat the test up to (I believe) 8 times in order to get a consistent result.
They have to take the best readings,, if during breathing tests you keep improving they will keep going, in sone instance I have gone to 7. They have to take the best readings into account as this is a true reflection of your lung capacity.
Hello everyone , it is the best of three usually. Sometimes I only do one due to this test causing my cough to come on. Guess it depends on the individual circumstances.
Hi Brian, There are different types of breathing tests you can do depending on what they want to know. To get a more accurate result they do the same test 3 times. If you do the test correctly, the 3 results are usually about the same. If for some reason you don't do the test correctly that particular result would normally be discarded. Also if you are struggling to do a test because you aren't very well but they have a couple of results they can work with they will cut the testing short. They are interested in the best you can do so the ones that fall short will be discarded. This is normal practice.
Further to LFTest, saw specialist to day, agreed my breathing had worse, and cough also, but even though xray confirmed, cant precribe oxigen, someone must come and assess my home first, cant have either of the two drugs to help cough until i get further confirmation from either Brompton or Southampton Hsp.
sonow have to wait for appointment for them to confirm what already knows, due ti NIC
