Hi Kimmy 59,
How are you?
How long have you had copd?
Rubyxx
I have severe Emphysema diagnosed February 2012 but I suggest I had been ill a lot longer. I don't feel to bad at the moment, (she says with everything crossed) the Azithromycin I started taking December 2013 really helped, I live in fear that they might stop it, couldn't go back to constant infections.
Kim xxxx
92-93% on oxygen, 84% off.
generally 92%
96%
93% on 1/2 L oxygen and about the same without extra oxygen.
Sitting here now they are 92. Can't figure why they change like that. x
Um. don't know will try it now. Just spent 2 minutes walking round my lounge and they are now 93. x
You should try your peak flow.Make sure your not getting sick.

Thanks Ruby. I feel fit and well at the moment. My sats do seem quite low considering my lung function is around 66%. Am going for my copd review in the next month or so so will ask the nurse, x
I can be 92/94 upright and 82/90 flat. I am all over the place at the moment still got this stupid cough throat thingy going about second week so far!
Be Well
Don't use oxygen but my sats when resting in bed usually about 84 to 86. Once up, three or four breathing control will bring it to 90 and a few mote breaths to 92/93
Hey Cornishbrian,
Thats really low. Your good to go? Feeling good and ready to take on the world?
Rubyxx
Yes. No problems. People can read too much into SoB and sats. Like anything else in life, no point over supplying when a maintenance dos is all that's needed. A bit like eating 24 hours...not needed. As for SoB, I keep telling folk it's not a bad thing. It's a matter of how well and how quick you return to normal. All Sob means is you are exercising your lungs. A top athlete, trains for years to get to his peak performance but if he or she isn't SoB after the event, they know they haven't given their all.
No idea really. the last two years COPD revues have been worse than useless and this years has had to be postponed due to me having an infection...the first infection for almost 18 months too. I have managed to avoid them by making some changes to my life but unfortunately this one my grand daughter brought home for me from school as part of her Christmas presents, I think. I have too admit though, after taking part in the web casts from Royal Brompton Hospital 8 months ago, I pay little head to any one figure. The professor told us repeatedly, the figures aren't even worth looking at in ones and twos...all the figures have to looked at together and then it is a very unreliable measure of lung capacity, fitness, ability to function etc. He made a particular point of the "Lung Age" as being fit for scare mongering only and of no medical basis or use to any one. It can't be used for diagnosis, working out treatment plans, measuring improvements etc..mainly because it is taken in uncontrolled conditions. However, if they were done correctly, they would still be of little benefit other than scaring a patient into an early grave.
