My hubby also has sarcoidosis and claims PIP. I would advise you to make sure that you state on the form how things are for you at your worst. Think about how breathless you get and how difficult it is to do things. If you are unsure about anything get some help in filling in the forms as they are very detailed and time consuming. Good luck to you and hope everything goes well. Take care. xxx

Hi,

It is important that you get advice from a benefits expert either Welfare Rights, CAB or DIAL. They are filling in these forms day in day out and will be able to help you with the forms. You need a certain amount of points, and whilst being honest, the experts know how to word your worst days. It also helps because filling in this stuff can make you feel quite negative as you need to concentrate on how your health situation effects you but a benefits expert can take a lot of the pressure away from you.

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

Hi arcacia24,

My name is Olivia and I work on the BLF helpline. I definately agree with what sassy59 and cofdrop said, it is best to get some helps with the forms. If you want some initial advice and things you need to consider when filling out the forms, I'll advice you to feel free to call us and ask to speak to one of our Benefits Advisers. The telephone number is 03000 030 555.

Take Care, Oli

I have now been waiting one year for a decision on my ESA claim and I haven't had a face to face assessment yet, it took DLA a year to turn me down and I have since put in a new claim I got someone to help me fill my forms in this time.

I can't understand why a decision maker or Doctor can not make a decision when someone has a lung condition they should be struck off if you Google COPD it gives you all sorts of information and at what stage, I'm stage 4 I have sent in my breathing test results it clearly states I have the lung capacity of a 87 year old and in my opinion the law needs to change. I wish you all the best of luck and keep us posted

I got a very nice chap at the Citizens Advice to help me fill in my PIP application 2 months ago.Six weeks later got a letter from ATOS telling me the DWP has passed my claim to them,a week after that got a letter from DWP reminding me to send in the form.Because of this government if I get a result before the next election somebody can beat me up with the nearest feather. The system is geared to saving money not helping us so if you,ll excuse the pun "don,t hold your breath" regarding PIP claims.Good luck though!D.
