Has anybody read Bayer website re trial into taking anti-biotics straight into lungs?

Also, not related, sputum suddenly tastes very salty. Is this anything to worry about?

Katie are you talking about the phase 111 inhaled cipro trial. Have had a discussion re this trial with cons on 'phone and he may put me forward as he thinks I would be accepted. Will see him soon and will let you know - may come to nothing. I believe the trial is for non cf bronchiectasis but will hopefully eventually benefit all of us. Strangely enough they say on site they are recruiting now but on the gov site they list the UK centres and state they are not recruiting yet!!!!! I have our dear friend flibberti to thank for bringing this to my attention.

Best to check out salty taste with GP hun.

Hi Cofdrop, I hope this will benefit everybody eventually. Iagree ncfbronch is a Cinderella. I read somewhere that only 110,00 people have it in the USA have it. I just do not believe that. Keep warm in this dreadful weather. Katie

I don't believe it either - I think it is underdiagnosed or in some cases another lung condition has been misdiagnosed.

Defo agree non cf bronchiectasis is the Cinderella of the respiratory world. I might be wrong here but as far as I know, and I would love to be corrected on this, apart from Bronchitol which was initially trialed and then for non cf bronch, this trial for inhaled Cipro is the 2nd trial specifically for non cf bronchiectasis in 20 years.

Like you I hope it will benefit all with any lung condition eventually if it is successful in bronch. Phase 11 had positive results I believe.

Well, I am a lot luckier than some as only have it mildly, but it would be nice to know that more interest and money would go into research. Keep warm cofdrop Katie

I find that my sputum starts tasting very salty just before an infection. I also get strange tastes in my mouth ie metallic sometimes quite a 'nasty' taste.

Hope you're ok at least you can be on guard!

Keep smiling Sue x

Am going to look for a pattern. Had it before. My physio has been messed around by my Flutter being broken. Have replaced with cheaper Shaker. Love the photo of the cats. Miss our pets! Katie

yes, I've seen this in a BBC programme/ news. sorry, I didn't take too much notice of it, as it won't be just now, I suppose.

Salty sputum, I get terrible tastes sometimes and the smell of it isn't too good either. Follow cofdrop's advice, have a sputum sample ready and take it to your surgery. Hope you get better soon.

Thanks, I do not think have inf at the moment. Just feel vulnerable due to various things, husband with cold, cold winds etc. Still if you are not flooded and have power you just have to count yourself lucky. Thanks Katie.

Thanks, I am hoping too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Katie
