Hi everyone, I have been for an oxygen assessment this morning, had to be up at 6 to be there for 9. The first thing that happened was I went out to the car in the pouring rain and had the wrong set of keys with me so had to come back in have a sit down and go again. Then when I got to the hospital I put my money in the machine and it would not give me a ticket so had to stand in rain and phone them so they didnt clamp me.
Anyway I did four 6 minute walks the first one was a disaster but after I got the oxygen on it got better and better, I have ended up with ambulatory oxygen 5 lpm so now I have to wait for Air Products to get in touch.

If you have a severe breathing problem you should qualify for a Blue Badge then you would not have to pay for parking at the hospital and would be able to use disabled spots which need less walking in bad weather. On the form you need to state that you get breathless when walking for 25 yards( it must be under 50 yards to qualify) and get breathless when you walk up stairs and need to stop after 3 steps to get your breath. Your GP or Consultant would probably support your application. I have had one for 20years now for my chronic asthmatic condition.
