Hi, I am Ripley (Beth) as was,

I quit the site some days ago after I received some very dreadful news about an old dear friend ....I did not feel able to post or communicate with anyone without talking about it and was too upset to talk about it, so I quit ...I hope this makes some sort of sense. (I have since visited him, he has not much time left, so dreadfully sad, but nevertheless very pleased I made the journey, I have known him and his lovely wife for 35 years, we used to live in Southend/Leigh on Sea ..... the 'Grand Hotel' back in the 1980s was our local ....happy memories ...... I wish them both peace .... now stopping, getting upset)

In my ignorance I thought I could just sign up again as Ripley, but apparently not.....I was rather puzzled and annoyed, but I suppose its to stop someone quitting the site and then someone joining and using the same name and causing confusion.

(I will admit to being a bit nervous about the new 'identity', I have read of people having 'multiple identities' I don't really know what this means but it's obvious from what I read that it is a bad thing, and would not like to be thought of in that way)

Anyway, I am pleased to be back and hope everyone keeping as well as they can.... smile even when you are crying

It's been quite dreadful to be honest.

And some hard times ahead I fear. So hard to see people you love slipping away and so difficult to talk about or even think about. I feel quite taken over by it all.

Im very pleased to be back and very sorry for not letting people know I was going .... I was not in a good place at the time.

Im not sure how the BLF have been thoughtful about ...me?? ... a bit confused by some of your post to be honest ... but it would be nice to think they were ...

I have no idea how peoples ids can be taken .... are you sure that possible? As I said I did try to sign back in as my old username but no chance.....

However .. bowing to your better knowledge ... to be honest where IT and the internet / forums and facebook etc concerned I am a complete ignoramous

Bev, thank you for replying so kindly to my post. I'm no more special than the next person .... we all try to enrich our friends lives if we can ... and they do the same for us .... A friend of mine who I spent today with said very wisely I think, that if we have no one we would cry over then we have had very emotionally isolated lives. There are times when tears are the right response.

Hi Music I will have to check it out next time I'm in Leigh. When I first used to go there, the back room had an old piano in it ... real spit and sawdust, and the old boys and girls, proper old ex Eastenders used to sing (?) away on a Saturday night. Hard to imagine now. Last time I was in there it was all bamboo chairs and plush sofas. Times change.

Thanks for the thoughts ....

I have had a lovely day ... treated to a day out by a friend, to Kew Gardens there and back by train, utterly bushed now, and the dodgy hip playing up rather, but had a fab time. The Princess of Wales Conservatories ... full of tropical plants, tho very humid and made me a bit breathless, were absolutely stunning (I like plants etc ....each to his/her own).
