Is it safe to go to Austria with mild emphysema and post pulmonary embolism 18 months ago? Wondered about altitude & oxygen levels
I guess that would be a question for your G.P. and/or Consultant/Respiratory nurse as they will know the full details of your condition. Sounds like a lovely trip planned and hope you can do it and thoroughly enjoy xx
I would definitely agree with the previous answer. But wish you well for the trip.
hi cornishlass i agree with above i have ipf which was found out march this year and had booked for florida consultant arrange flight test as i am on oxygen 24/7 was fortunate enough he let me fly just had to orginise my oxy myself so its worth seeing your doc or consultant for advice hope all goes well tc anna xx
Hope you get to go to Austria, I would love to go there. Let us know what your Doctor says. Good luck.
anna
I'd definitely check with your doctors about the altitude.
From what people have told me, Austrian health care is pretty good, so that side of it wouldn't be a risk.
Hope you get there and have a wonderful time.
I think you would most likely be ok to fly, my dad continued travelling at the point his emphesyma was mild however given that you have also had a PE you really need to speak to your doctor or consultant first. Some airlines would not take the risk or travel insurance so best to seek medical advice
Hope you manage to get your holiday
best wishes Julie
Thankyou all so much. Did mention it to my doctor but was basically told most people are ok, no one knows how each individual reacts! Might go Italy instead, be on the safe side.
