Hullo, trownail, I take furosemide as well but I am afraid i cant help you. Best thing is to either ring the BLF nurse at 03000030555 or speak to your GP/practice nurse. All the best annieseed x

I would say drink if you are thirsty - my husband has IPF and diastolic heart failure - he drinks when he is thirsty. He should also cut down on salt, but that's an ongoing battle......

Should add he is on 80mg daily, one dose I give him very eary in the morning, with a 'cuppa, but he doesn.t have breakfast for at least an hour. we find it works exteremely well that way, adn we are then safe to venture out ! The other dose he takes with his pills at tea-time.

At the PR group they were telling us the importance of drinking 2 litres of fluid daily. Lots of people who are on furosemide were horrified but they said that it was important for them to do their very best to spread it throughout the day but obviously not just before you go out or last thing - and also caffeinated drinks don't count.

I think it would be advisable to seek a professional opinion for yourself though. P

I asked at the PR yesterday and she said it would depend on whether or not your doc has told you to restrict fluid. Best to check? Best wishes P
