Tooamp, I really liked that. Haunting. Why did you find it? Being absent with yet another chest infection. I cant believe they always come with I am staying with my daughter, and they send me completely legless. The family are helpful. love annieseed x

Thank you I am a great fan of Escher too and particularly like his 'impossible' pictures -the impossible staircases etc. Had seen some of these before but never realised he did so many - also did not know the word 'tessellations' so thank you - I love learning.

The 'tessellations' were some of his earlier works, I just happened to stumble across this in YouTube.
I love his "impossible " work too, and the ones that really show his drawing skills
I also like, although in a sense totally different, Magritte, and the much maligned, but still great in my opinion, Salvador Dali - as you see have a soft spot for the surrealists. Particularly like 'The Pleasure Principle', 'This is not a Pipe' and the one with the train coming out of the fireplace (not sure of its title - maybe you know) by Magritte, and loads by Dali oh and Miro some of whose work I have seen in Barcalona although would in my naïve way consider him a lesser artist technically than the others but could be wrong.
Rene Magritte was one of my favourites too, and Salvador Dali. I always had a soft spot for the Surrealists too.

I still like many of the classical painters too as well as some modern ones.
I used to paint and draw, and made a living at it briefly.
I wont argue with your opinions of Miro, art is a matter of individual taste not fashion or critics top tens
I like the humour and see an almost childish innocence in Miro but, in my ignorance, cannot perceive any great technique. Re the classical painters yes I like many of them too, as you say what we appreciate in art, in the end, despite the hype is a matter of subjective taste. Nice to chat a bit about art I do not get much of an opportunity. Sorry to hear you no longer paint and draw - what stops you? is it your health if you do not mind me asking.
A couple of joke fakes have crept in there, but they're quite funny
Spotted one I thought was not a Magritte and was correct is a picture of a new museum of his works - not sure on others though will look again later or tomorrow - thanks for link - train one called 'Time transfixed' I think, so thanks for that too and had forgotten the Rape' one very powerful.
