Volumatic spacers and aerochambers
Volumatic are the big ones used by children and adults like me. Good for tidal breathing especially when you are breathless. Aeor chambers are the small slim ones that fit easily in a handbag. I would love to go back to this but at the moment using the traumatic.
Just as Elanaoail said. The volumatic is the large cumbersome way of taking your inhalers. I've now got an adult Aero chamber which I'd simple and more comfortable to use. Ask your doctor / asthma nurse to prescribe one as your chemist may have to order it in for you. Unfortunately you can only get one on prescription
I have a Volumatic for home and an Aerochamber for out and about. As others have said it's the size. Volumatic is too big to take out but an asthma nurse once told me you get more inhaler in where it needs to be with a large volume like a Volumatic than a small one like an Aerochamber, and more in with either than with no spacer. Given how much I need my Ventolin, I like to maximise the amount I get in when I can! I use the tidal breathing method usually.
I have bought both types online from Amazon without a prescription for about £10 but if you already have a prepayment certificate it would be cheaper to get it on prescription. I do have prepayment just couldn't be bothered to get on prescription as it's not on my repeats.
