Hi everyone,

Have you taken part in Asthma UK’s 12-Week Asthma Support Programme? bit.ly/2tYEfDJ

If so please share your experience here! Have you discovered anything new as a result? Made any changes? Is there anything you would like to share to people just starting out?

Thanks,

Dita

Found the 12 week programme very useful as a reminder of why it's really important to take my preventer inhaler continuously through the year and not just in winter. Through the course I learned about asthma plans which I don't recall my GP ever mentioning previously. Following the 12 week programme I spoke with an Asthma UK nurse and have subsequently seen my GP and started a trial of Singulair to see if helps. I'd definitely recommend the 12 week programme.

I completed this programme in the spring/summer this year. Little do I know how useful it was going to be until 3 wks ago when my asthma went seriously south. I then has to go through starting with a flare up, then two asthma attacks with days of each other and lastly a trip to the respiratory hot clinic last week. Day 17 of steroids weaning off ... So how have I applied the programme to my lastest experience.

It is from the mental health side last I have use to ... exgage the help of my friends and family. This is when you have to surrender to get help and people on your side. This has been from practial side ie. teenagers cooking meals to my friends just knowing what is going on. The texts were flying on the day of respiratory hot clinic and a phone call from a best friend on the day at 8 am. She didn't know what I was facing as I hadn't told her. She was an answer to unanswered pray. A best friend for 27 years who understand more than most about mental health issues.

Lastly if anyone of your family has questions that you can't feel you can answer then direct them onto the asthma uk website.

If you want another weapon in your arsenal then this is one to have... Remember asthma isn't just a physical condition it can affect your whole life .. So forewarned is forearmed.
