Hi I'm due to fly to Cyprus for a 2 week holiday, in 4 weeks time, and I've had 2 recent exacerbation of asthma, ended up in hospital for, but feeling well now and peak flows more controlled and stable. My question is what are other asthmatics experiences of flying and if and how it effects their asthma.

Asthmatics experiences of flying
I don't find Asthma affects me travelling which I do all the time. However, if I am not so well, I generally take 20mg of prednisolone the day before I fly, the day I fly and the day after. On the recommendation of my consultant. If you have not been well perhaps you could talk to your GP about doing something similar? Other than that just make sure you have your reliever inhaler to hand at all times. If you feel remotely blocked up, take some sudafed, before the flight, do remember it only last six hours, so its a long haul flight remember to take a second dose before landing.
Most of all, have a brilliant holiday.

I agree with risabel. I don't usually have any problems flying. Make sure you have your inhalers with you in a clear plastic bag for going through security. Good luck and have a lovely time.
Hi tracyvamp73
I asked the community for some useful tips a few weeks ago to share with the wider community, so this post might be useful: healthunlocked.com/asthmauk...
Have a good holiday,
