I just booked for my flu vaccine from invite, but not had my covid invite yet. I've had 7 vaccines and covid 4 times. Low immunity, been as careful can be but still unlucky 😞

I have had my RSV vaccine. Flu Jab next week and Covid 3 weeks later.

My flu inoculation is booked also, a week earlier, the new RSV vaccine….as I am 79 years old.

I have not been invited yet, but when I do I will be attending.

I have never received an invitation (even though I'm asthmatic) from GP or any other medical source for 'Flu or Covid vaccines, so I make my own appointments wherever I can (usually at a pharmacy).

Already booked. Haven't had one for covid for this winter

I won't be because the covid vaccine made my asthma worse and the last time I had the flu vaccine I was ill for a week.I say this not to put other people off having them but to emphasise that some of us have good reasons not to take them. The incessant text message reminders can be irritating.

My doctor stopped inviting me for covid and flue jab as I always decline the flue jab as I never had a cold or flue I see no reason to inject something that I don't need as for the covid the invite mydaughter who is my carer but not me so we both don't bother she had 1 flue jab and was very ill with it

I received an invite a few weeks back for flu and will be getting it in October. That is the only seasonal vaccine I’ve been notified about.

I will have every jab going.

I’ve got RSV and flu booked, I will be booking Covid as soon as my surgery invites me.

I got an RSV Infection four weeks ago and I’m really suffering still. I hope the vaccine will save me from going through this again, it’s been awful.

I'm dithering because I've just been told I have to have both vaccines at the same time. I'd definitely be going if I was allowed to have them separately, but I'm nervous the impact on my asthma if I have both together (always have a flareup with single vaccines, and wondering if two will mean twice as much difficulty breathing!) Voted 'yes' as I'll definitely go for one, just may walk out before I have the other!

Had RSV last year which led to pneumonia. Definately don't want it again!

Already had my RSV vaccination earlier this month and due Covid and Flu vaccinations next month. Although I felt pretty rotten for a few days after last year's vaccination, I'm thinking it's probably better than the full blown consequences of having Covid.

You can ask to have them separately.

So far, they're refusing to do them separately, but I have my asthma review tomorrow, so I'm hoping the asthma nurse will be able to sort it!

I cannot vote because the option unsure is not available

Got sent a message to say book your flu vaccine online and there’s not one slot available right up to Christmas

I had my flu vaccine on Monday. I won't be having the covid one.

I am having everything going, but not all at the same time! So that’s flu, Covid, RSV and also shingles which I haven’t yet had (fallen through the net for some reason though I am 75).

Been invited for the flu and COVID jabs and will be having both. Especially flu - I have severe asthma because swine flu turned my mild asthma this way and I am NOT messing with flu again. It's much worse than people think (not least because people call things flu when they're more like a bad cold - miserable and can affect asthma for sure, but not flu. I've had actual flu only twice in my life and I never want to again).

If I were offered an RSV jab I'd take it, but I won't be as I'm 38. Seems pretty short-sighted to me given RSV put me in hospital with an asthma attack, gave me an adrenal crisis, and made my lungs so twitchy I kept having more asthma admissions for months. And it could definitely have been worse, especially if I were also immunocompromised.

I would hope they start offering it to older children and younger adults with qualifying conditions asap.

Retired now but I’ve been in the office with people coughing all over me saying they’ve got “a touch of flu”. If they’d ever had flu they’d know it knocks you flat for a fortnight & you can hardly stand let alone go to work.

I had an unspecified virus a month ago which has had a dreadful effect on my lungs. I’ve really been struggling and am now in hospital. I’ll have any vaccine going but at 72 & with 4 lung conditions AND an immune deficiency am not eligible for the RSV one, though I don’t fancy my chances if I caught it. Crazy isn’t it?!

Lysistrata profile image

Sorry to hear you're in hospital! I don't think the aftereffects of these viruses are appreciated enough especially with lung conditions. I hope you're able to go home soon and things improve.

And yes, it is nuts that you can't get the RSV vaccine currently. I don't know if it's just that they only tested it in a very narrow range of key affected groups and therefore don't have any data on others and NICE won't do anything without it. But real-world experience would surely suggest that prevention is likely to be worth it in others. I hope they get what they need asap to persuade NICE.

They say things like “there’s no evidence that people over 80 benefit from this”. Well there won’t be any evidence if they’re excluded from clinical trials, will there? Likewise those with certain conditions or on specific meds, they’re frequently excluded too.

But I’m sure cost is a factor too. One of our members who is/was a pharmacist said this was the consensus of opinion in the pharma press

Yes, it always causes a mix of annoyance and amusement when someone tells me that they've had flu but "just kept going". If you could 'keep going', then you didn't have flu, you just had a bad cold!

Yes,I'm having annual flu + covid vaccinations.ive opted to have at local chemist to avoid queues at drs.i can't risk infections x

Our doctor still gives the option of waiting outside in the car park - I've never actually been in the waiting room as I always choose to wait outside! Maybe you could ask if your GP surgery could offer this option too.

That's a gd idea.ive booked it now so I'll stick with chemist this year.its small & quiet

Only flu because covid vaccination I had a reaction to.

I have been asked for covid jab and will go, at local pharmacy, but GP not offering flu jab yet to people such as me.

They have moved my GP asthma nurse to the flu jab effort, they do this every year, which is really irritating as they have nobody else at the GP surgery that gets asthma.

Mandevilla profile image
Mandevilla in reply toHomely2

That's really weird because the criteria for a flu jab is much lower than Covid.

Homely2 profile image
Homely2Administrator in reply toMandevilla

The covid jab is done by NHS and I can go to my local pharmacy, who are very quick and good.

The flu jab locally is done by the GP surgery, who do over 65s first and then do other people with long term conditions later.

I never had asthma until recently. After the 2nd covid jab (pfizer), I developed a terrible cough which went away after a number of weeks. The 3rd jab (Moderna) resulted in a return of the bad cough. It became worse and I was very ill, scarcely able to sleep and unable to lie down or go out. It took medics ages to diagnose that I had developed severe eosinophilic asthma to the extent that it could be clearly seen on a CT scan. I have struggled ever since and even had biologic medication to try to stabilise this cough-based asthma. I am certain it was caused by my body's reaction to the excess jabs as I already have digestive tract auto-immunity. I won't have any more respiratory-type vaccinations.
