A Sunday Surprise

I had a very interesting experience visiting by iPhone facetime with my autistic nephew. I have been reading stories to him usually once a month for over a year. He has never really spoken to me unless I ask a (infrequent, as to not upset him) question to which he always replies yes. Anyway this time I asked his father if I could include playing a YouTube video of a recent autistic singer (Audrey Burchell) on America's Got Talent. Immediately afterward he started reciting all the musicians he knows, it sounded like. He went on and on to my complete amazement. I heard what his speaking voice really sounds like for the first time!

Boy Audrey really opened my nephew up this past Sunday. I hope she advances in the completion so that I can share more of her AGT videos with him.

That sounds like good news. It also sounds as if you got lucky by picking something he was interested in. I'm guessing what he said was factual. He probably has a favourite musician or a favourite two or three, and might talk more if asked about them. Mind you, you've probably done that already 🙂
