Has anyone gone to OT for little ones? And was this on the NHS?

Feeling lost
We had an OT assessment for our son in year 4. It was for co-ordination issues, not sensory issues. The referral was through the school, but CAMHS recommended it. We brought up sensory issues during the assessment. We were told that there was two ways to get a sensory assessment, either through the school or to pay privately (at about £350-400). The school refused to fund a sensory assessment through the OT. We did manage a more limited assessment through the Educational Psychologist via the school. I would like him to have an OT assessment but my husband doesn't think we can afford to spend so much on something that wouldn't necessarily help.
We had an ot assesment years ago wen my son was around 6/7 through education peaditrician.wasn't very helpfull and only 2 follow up appointments.
