I have HF Aspergers and seasonal light sensitivites. I tried a cognitive enhancing supplement Aniracetam this year to a max dose of 2400mg/ split into 3 doses. It has totally prevented my SAD onsetting and has very much stabalised my circadian rhtyms..

Hi Norseman22
Google:- 'Vitamin D Council, Another autism case report'
Read right down to the bottom, it connects to SAD - light therapy and also about Low vitamin D.
Autism is also links with vitamin D deficiency.
Our Grandaughter has Autism and I was found to be D deficient through a blood test and prescribed vitamin D3, I then found it linked to Autism.
The vitamindcouncil.com site is a must for anyone to read about as vitamin D deficiency connects to many illnesses and it is reckoned around 80% + of us do not realize we are deficient or low in vitamin D.
I was identified as having low D3 levels around 7 years ago and have taken a prescribed supplement since with little efect on the seasonal depression. It is this Aniracetam that has helped this year. I'm also very concerned about the amount of Estrogen mimiking chemicals in our food (from plastics) and water (from, detegents, fertilisers,)
I too was prescribed D3, but only a maintenance dose of 1000iu (international units,) then was put down to just 400iu, which did nothing.
Since learning more about vitamin D on the Vitamin D website I have upped my dose to a recommended dose and feel much better, many symptoms I had just fell away.
My vitamin D bloods are still showing 'within range' so my Doctor is happy, but probably thinks it is their dose that has put my D up higher then it was.
Looking back a year or so I remember buying a Sunshine Lamp to make me feel happier in winter and we put in bright light energy bulbs inside our home which did help 'lift' my energy levels, but the bulbs were costly and kept exploding after a short time. Looking back now I realize I no longer need to have my energy levels lifted and don't feel so down in winter as I use to, so could be vitamin D related.
Interesting to see you too had a vitamin D deficiency too Norseman22.
Good to hear also that Aniracetam is working for you.
Yes! our family are also into checking out what's really in our foods, it's such a minefield out there and what with our vanishing minerals in the soil too, that's why we all need more vitamins and minerals to what our forefather's did. It is quite an interesting subject to get into and find out about.
