Hi everyone.

Just looking for a bit of reassurance, I’ve not specifically been diagnosed but I have episodes of SVT every now and again. I have done since I was young (now 30yo f.) there’s no rhyme or reason to them, sometimes they happen one after the other over a few days and then I can go several months without them. They have no specific trigger. They only last a minute or two at a time which the Dr has told me they’re not to worry about. I record and ECG whenever I have my watch on.

Earlier today approx 9:05 am I was tending my pets, went to the bin and it started as I pressed the foot pedal 🤷🏻‍♀️. I sat down and paced my breathing but it went on longer than usual. Started vagal manoeuvres but they also didn’t work. After 5 or so minutes I went to get my watch (very gingerly as I tend to go dizzy and see stars when I have a do.) put my watch on and started to record the ECGs. They’re 30 seconds at a time and I recorded 9. Eventually the episode stopped but I was about to call for an ambulance as this the longest one I’ve ever had.

I had a short rest after - brief nap and lie down. I get residual chest pain afterwards but have been advised that’s normal? But my god I was scared! I’m on the waiting list for cardiology at my local department for suspected PoTS but was told it’s a 17 week wait 😭 I’ve already waited 8 after a fight for a referral. I just don’t feel like anyone is listening to me. Drs advised a trip to a&e if things like this happen for any length of time but as there’s no rhyme or reason to them I feel like I’m trying to catch a unicorn.

Any words of comfort will be greatly appreciated 🩷 thanks for reading.

Hello - Thank you for your message on the Forum. I am sorry to read about your experiences, and understand how frightening they can be due to their unpredictability. Unfortunately, it is known many health authorities do have extensive waiting lists, if the symptoms and 'episodes' continue then please do follow the Doctors advice and go to A&E. You may find our SVT Discussion Guide and other resources helpful by visiting and downloading from the Arrhythmia Alliance Website: heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/...

If you would like any information or support please contact the Patient Services Team: heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/...

Kind regards
