Hi

I was diagnosed with SVT brought on by exercise about 3 years ago.

Cardiologist tried an ablation, but said I had numerous electrical paths and wasn't clear which one was causing the SVT, so ablation was not performed.

Anyway I reduced the amount of exercise I was doing and I seemed to manage the issue with episodes being rare over the past 3 years.

In this period I've had high BP diagnosed and I've had progressively larger doses of Losartan prescribed, currently 75mg.

I've also noticed my HR takes hours to return to normal resting even after moderate exercise.

About 10 weeks ago I had another episode of SVT whilst out walking and another today whilst walking. My HR seemed off the scale! for about 5 minutes until it settled down.

I'm going to see my GP this week to discuss the situation as I'm getting a bit anxious about it.

I wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Hi Pressured,

Your case of SVT sounds very similar to mine. Mine is also triggered by exercise. After a long battle (3 years) of trying to get medical professionals to take me seriously, I finally got the stress exercise test that I'd been pushing for.

I was finally diagnosed with SVT last year. At around the same time that I developed symptoms of SVT I was diagnosed with high BP. My resting heart rate was usually around 64bpm, possibly due to having a good level of fitness. I was an avid mountain climber.

Fast forward 6 months and iam a shadow of my former self. Like you, my excercise has decreased in order to help control SVT episodes, and I was prescribed Verapamil. Since then, my heart rate jumps all over the place. Just getting up from a seated position, or ambling around sends my heart rate well over 100pbm, and like you, it takes a longtime to reduce again.

I've also had break through episodes since starting medication, and recently a different type of arrhythmia has also been detected. I still don't fully understand what is going on to be honest, despite my appointment with my Cardiologist last week. I feel that my current Cardiologist is only interested in pushing me to go for an ablation, which is something I'm not prepared to undergo without all the facts to weigh up first.

I also feel very anxious, which also doesn't help matters!

I hope you get some answers 🙂
