For those on warfarin only have you e... - Anticoagulation S...
For those on warfarin only have you ever had any of the following
I also had very heavy periods
Yes, I did too until I decided to have an endometrial ablation.
.
BEST thing I ever did.
.
Now I just spot.
None of the above!
I have Hughes syndrome and mild Lupus, my INR range has to be about 3.5. I don't think it's the Warfarin that effects me although I am usually on 9 mgs it's the condition, in fact if anything I feel better on Warfarin
Sorry I should have said I suffer from sever fatigue. I do have nose bleeds but only because of sore areas. Dry skin yes but also before treated with Warfarin
I've had dark circles under my eyes, when I looked up possible causes on the net, lack of vitamin k was listed.
l've got most of the above, also bad depression. I don't know if that is due to Warfarin or just having to live with bad health.
None of the above "yet".Have only been on Warfarin for close to two weeks.
Not just hair loss, but chalky finger and toenails due to very high dosage required. Used Warfarin for three months before protesting at the side effects and am now on dabigatran (Pradaxa) instead. Bliss, no blood tests!
HAve small nosebleed but did before I was on warfarin and they have not got any worse. The dry skin does seem to have got worse but that is also likely to be my age and the fact that I really don't drink enough
Just thought of something else - I always feel so cold. I have spoken to other Warfarin users who have noticed this.
I also feel the cold alot more since being on Warfarin and so did my Aunt when she was on it for 3 months! Im on it for life and after 15yrs have got used to being the only one wearing a jumper when others are in T shirts!!
I really notce this cold thing too. I wear a jacket to bed sometimes and I live in FLorida. Of course I kind of don't mind. I have A/C naturally but keep it a little cold in here so I can snuggle. And yes sometimes I am the only one wearing a jacket and the weather is warm.
Small complaint for me. Jas9mine
I have also had unexplained bruising even when I was well within my therapuetic range.
The nose bleeds were the worst, it was as if someone had turned on a tap and it would continue sometimes up to 36 hours. I often ended up in hospital for a couple of days in the ear nose and throat department with my nose being plugged. Fortunately when i took over my INR management this stopped and I have not had a serious nose bleed for years, and stay within my range for 96% of the time.
I am always cold as well, sometimes really freezing even when it is not that cold. Doctor says there is no reason for it to be the warfarin but I was not like this before. also have spoken to other people on warfarin who feel the same.
Bleeding gums!
Yes. Me too.
Nose bleeds, rash, itchy skin, fatigue, weight gain- all I suffer from.
Hypoprothrombinemia caused by Hemostasis, and as a result a very swollen spleen and internal bleeding. Acute Hemarthrosis. Very low levels of plasma which led to vasculitis of the heart and lungs and mononeuritis in both legs, and mini clots in all major organs in my body. I am now in a wheelchair as a result.
Are you saying this is from Warfarin?? I hope not! How long have you been on this drug? Are you still on it?
I've been on Warfarin for 26 years, and still am. I can't say definitively that the warfarin has caused these problems but it obviously has helped! I have Antiphospholipid Syndrome and that's the reason I take Warfarin. The problem is with the syndrome that I have. My INR is extreemly unpredictable and it is very difficult to stay in range.
I found that I was constantly feeling cold even in the warm weather
dry skin .black skin from ancle to calf
My wife has had 2 inner ear bleeds and now suffers from vertigo.
I developed a huge fungal rash on my chest which I've never had until taking Warfarin. Went through the Warfarin blurb re possible side effects. ... 'Voila' - GP prescribed Dakacort (Miconazole 2%) cream and it's worked a treat.
memory loss.
Yes I have twice had very heavy nose bleeds and once had to rush to A&E to have it stopped. On both occasions it was in my early days on Warfarin and had taken other medication which caused my INR to shoot up. On the lesser occasion it was simply taking 6 x 500mg Paracetamol in 24 hours and on the more serious occasion it was 24 hours after a locum (wrongly) prescribed some strong anti-inflammatory medication after a torn muscle. That is what led me to take control of managing my own anticoagulation. No problems since.
my whole family has Leiden V but strangely we all love foods high in vitamin k. Could be a coincidence?
WEll I am watching all of my foods lately. I do my own testing at home so I take my test in the morning so I know what I am up against all day BEFORE I take any Warfarin at 6 PM. That way I can adjust with some common sense-no guessing. I know what i ate and drank and what pain killers I used. Vicodin is a blood thinner for me-NO doubt! Because my My INR was a little high 4.1. .for me so TWo days I skipped all WArfarin so I would not drive it any higher. Then I took Vicodin for my pain and my INR would not fall too fast. It all seemed to work out just fine. The next day my INR was 3 which is a lot better for me. MY doctor likes it between 2-3. Jas9mine
My neurologist is treating my nerve pain which is awfu. she thinks it is coming off the spine and radiating down my left leg. o.k. so I spelled the name of this drug wrong. here is the correct spelling: GABAPENTIN She has started me on 1 cap each night for one week. then will increase it to 2 caps each night for the second week. . .. then she will increase it to 3 caps each night after that. the only side effect she mentioned is sleepy so I will only take it at night. so far so good. I sure hope this works. I will see if there is any effect on any new INR scores for me. I will watch all very closely. Jas9mine
Nose bleeds especially when its warm...bloodshot eyes often...dry itchy skin definately...fatigue always! I also had extremely heavy prolonged periods which seem to have been sorted by having a mirena coil fitted..no periods at all now!! ☺
Burning sensation inside my veins, aching knees, wrists and ankles, sweating. Bloated stomach with pains either side and in pelvis and hips. The doctor said it's not the warfarin, it's the only medication I'm taking so is there something else wrong
i thought it may have been the hydrocoritisone tablets but i've been on warfarin for a year now and i cant believe more hair has fallen off my head in one year than the other 59 years of my life, its pathetic
I have also had breast cancer, hiatus hernia, abdominal hernia, gallstones. Warfarin works for me! It's easy to adjust dose if INR needs adjusting before surgery. I have no wish to change to newer anticoagulants.
Whatever happens I wish to stay on warfarin. It works for me and I'm still alive - hooray!!!
Fatigue is not quit correct in explaining tiredness. I have EXTREME Fatigue it seems everday its worse. There is seldom a day that I feel capable of doing more then laying on the couch or staying n bed. However, I do have to force myself into getn up and tryin to do at least one productive thing each day. Also my periods are VERY HEAVY I go thru several giant night time pads as day.
