It's my understanding that wet suits are primarily made from a synthetic rubber-type material called neoprene. Neoprene itself does not seem to be related to the glycols. It is used to make Halloween masks, dishwashing gloves instead of latex, and waterproof automotive seat covers. Some people, however, experience dermatitis from its left-over thioureu particles which is part of production.
