Anyone had any experiences with taking an SSRI? Trying to find something for my daughter who is allergic to PEG.

It is very difficult to use conventional medicine when one is allergic to PG/PEG. Since depression is highly linked to the gut microbiome, it might be beneficial to work with a holistic practitioner. Best wishes.

I'm really sorry, I haven't found a single one. I had to go cold turkey after 20 years when they crammed PEG into the last one available, and I've been living in hell ever since.

If you can afford a compounding pharmacy or a special practitioner that insurance doesn't cover, they may be able to make you a clean medication. Otherwise, you're stuck in the land of herbal supplements. I've tried every one I can get my hands on and nothing has worked, but some people swear by them.

I wish you the best. I don't want anyone to live the way I do.

I went thru this with my son. They all have some variation of PG and would cause his skin to flare up. He ended up spending a year living outside in nature at a Christian therapeutic boarding school and came home off all medications. An extreme example, and not for everyone. But convinced me that medication was not the answer. Also agree with other post that gut biome is big piece of it. There is more and more evidence that SSIR do very little. Good luck!
