I took Dronedarone for six days. My blood pressure dropped very low, I had terrible headaches and vomiting and felt generally horrible all over.

A week after I stopped it, I was put on dofetilide and have felt great for the month now I've been on it. The afib is about 90% controlled and I feel stronger and am delighted with the med.

Thanks, thats interesting. Although I have not experienced those symptons, the last couple of months my skin is cracking, painful and bleeding around my feet, hands and ears. Of course I am on several other meds but this one seems the most likley problem from what little I know of it. Not heard of Dofetilide but I will look it up.

Good luck.

I was on Dronedarone for 3 months following a Dc cardioversion ( my 10th ) in Feb 2012 . My finger nails started flaking & splitting & breaking off. It was almost ayear before they started to look vaguely presentable. By the way , my EP is finding that Dronedarone is abit of a damp squib -- not living up to it's claims . It seems that Amiodarone is still the ultimate drug.

Diagnosed with Paroxysmal AF in 2006. I found the AFA group in 2010 and started reading about Electrophysicists (EPs). Our local hospital initially denied the EP existence until later that year, I was referred me to the EP Clinic, who prescribed Dronedarone @ 2 x 400mg per day, in Feb/Mar 2011. I was at an appt. with my Cardiologist and he told me after an ECG that I was in AF BUT I had driven to the hospital and felt fine, having NO idea that my heart was effectively 'doing a jig'. I have little trouble from my AF, compared to before Dronedarone.

That's good to hear,I have to admit that apart from this worsening side effect, the last few weeks have been reasonably good as far as the AF is concerned (although it certainly hasn't gone away) it is not nearly as severe or long lasting as before.

I first experienced this "problem" some two years or so ago but was simply diagnosed with "an irregular heartbeat",given a beta blocker, and got on with it.Had a really bad attack last autumn, met my present cardiologist who immediately diagnosed AF and placed me on Dronedarone,(amongst other things),but its taken a while to settle down to present level.

However until I discovered the AFA last week I really had no understanding of what was really happening, perhaps this now is also helping me to feel better about it all!

Hope you continue having little or no problems.

Have never taken the drug you mention, but have you ever considered an ablation. I have found the ablation stopped the AF and I have felt great now for 18 months.

Hi beano, I have only just discovered what my condition is all about having found the AFA. I have an appointment with my cardiologist in a couple of weeks and finally have enough basic knowledge to start asking some questions.Maybe I'm a bit thick but at my last meeting with him all I took on board was the dreaded "you've got heart disease," the rest was taken from his report to my GP,and was in medical abbreviations, which I had to look up the meaning of ect, ect. That's why I have spent last couple of months worried silly, lack of information in plain English.Having found this site I'm feeling better about life.

Cheers.
