Have a look at stroke prevention - Google Healthline-news/stroke-prevention-tips-American-stroke-association.
Most of the article is common sense, but it's worth reading. The Healthline link is about four down on Google's first page. I think it's worth a gander for newbies and a reminder for those of you who have had Afib for some time.

Thanks for that Paul. There seems to be, dare l say, some contention of late as to the importance of taking an anticoagulant when you have AF. The list they provide to keep healthy can be achieved by life style changes, but although AF can be helped with those changes too, AF cannot be cured, so for stroke prevention, with AF., an anticoagulant is needed together with those changes, which makes it a complex condition and the risk of stroke that much higher.
I agree. A combination of lifestyle changes and an anticoagulant is by no means guaranteed to prevent a stroke. It does however, reduce our risk - 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times a week can reduce the risk of stroke by 20 - 25%. There are many more health benefits to be gained from undertaking this routine. It also lowers the risk of becoming a victim of some cancers. 150 minutes a week total is a good investment for the health benefits you can gain in my opinion!
You are right. Fitness and exercise are not of themselves a silver bullet for health. You should check for atrial fibrillation too. I had 40 years of running, cycling, gym, Spin and yoga classes under my belt. I made bread and ate rustic muesli : then I had an ischaemic stroke in 2016. That was related to atrial fibrillation and not taking an anticoagulant.
Now I have a rowing machine at home: to date I have logged 2.3 million metres on this and other rowing machines.
These days I use the rowing machine outdoors, so this year there's been many days missed due to rain. Yesterday I had the Stilhl battery backpack and Stihl range cutter (about 9.5kg in total) to cut part of the neighbour's hedge. In my gym days I would call that functional training.
I shall pursue tomorrow, aggro going on tonight with youngest son in overcrowded Council house( reported by their own inspector)..offered a new ..Council house, after I manacled the new MP (and mentioned litigation as it was noted house was dangerous to mum) however this new offer househas damp ...under 3 grandson, asthma,,disabled mum( flat back syndrome recently diagnosed)
Good luck with your sons housing problem. I'm sure you can sort it out if anyone can - I certainly wouldn't consider a house with damp if your 3-year-old grandson has asthma!
Hi, just a heads up that the sequence and placing of Google search results depends on lots of different factors, especially advertising, so its quite possible the item you are looking at will be in a different place, maybe even a different page, even if using exactly the same search terms
After all, Google is just an advertising company that uses search results (among many other things) to show you adverts
