The Watchman Device has nothing to do with the aorta. It is a screen device which fits over the entrance of the left atrial appendage of the left atrium to help prevent clots from causing a stroke for those people unable to take anticoagulants..
It's one of several devices that help prevents clots in the left atrial appendage (LAA). A consideration for those who either cannot or prefer not to take AC's/thinners. Unlike AtriClip, which physically clamps off the LAA, these flilter-like devices usually require daily aspirin for life to protect from clots forming on the device itself. AtriClip does not require aspirin for life.

Just to clarify: it doesn't have anything to do with the aorta being too large or too small.
In simple terms, it is an alternative to taking anti-coagulants (DOACs or Warfarin).
My husband, Steve, had his Watchman implanted about 2 years ago to prevent clots from the Left Atrial Appendage entering the blood stream; Read all about the Watchman at: a-fib.com/watchman-device-o... --Patti Ryan
