First afib incident since dx 3 years ago

Have been taking Diltiazem 180 mg daily for 3 years without having any tachycardia till now. Days with HR 130-140 bpm. I think that it was caused by the stress due to the severe storm that caused many blowdowns (one on my house) loss of power, internet, and downed phone lines. Lots of worry, shoveling and hard work. After things settled down I took an extra 180 mg Diltiazem and after a good nights sleep HR went back to 60-70 bpm. BTW, house not damaged. I was actually thinking that maybe I didn't really have afib due to the lack of afib symptoms.

Good to hear the extra dose settle things down. Scary that your bout went on so long. And all that weather stuff was an awful lot of stress! Especially the power outages and trees falling. Not sure where you are, but we had several trees that snapped this week too. (Upstate NY) Luckily our power stayed on and our plow guy cleared up driveway. No more winter shoveling for me! Take it easy!

Sorry to hear your balance has been disrupted. It's likely worth speaking to cardiologist as I believe the approach to treating AF is changing. I hope you havr access to medical care.

Hi. I'm new to this, but have been told they like tablate early to avoid long term difficulties. But I don't know your back story!
