Trying to enjoying the Christmas holidays but ignoring the thumping!

Hi just wanted some advice on here. I've been on Sotalol for a while now maybe two years or so. I have always felt I needed a higher dose but can't go any higher as I take 80mg three times a day. I have always felt it never really works and especially if you have adrenaline and are enjoying yourself and laughing with friends it's worse! I am tired of having to keep lying down on the sofa for an hour three times a day to get my heart rate back to normal when I take my doses. I have an appointment with a cardiologist on Monday and she wants me to try Dronedrone or something similar. Apparantly there was a drug with nasty stuff in and this one has it removed. Anyone got any experience or this drug and whether it works for you?

I'm currently on it. Can't say it really works for me. Still getting weekly episodes for about 18 hours average. To be fair I'm actually worse off on any drug tried Always take it with a decent meal you're backside will thank you.

Donedarone works for me to the extent that it makes my episodes shorter by a significant number of hours but does not stop me getting episodes. I was put on it because I was having blackouts on conversion to normal sinus. It does that brilliantly. Best of luck.

I agree with Tommy. I'm not sure it works really as I keep going into AF . I gave been on Sotalol for years and decided to wean myself off it due to the effects on my digestive system. I've been off it a few weeks and feel much brighter. I still use it as a pip which appears to be effective.

I was switched to Sotalol for awhile from Amiodarone and it did nothing except make my Afib episodes worse. So the doctor put me on Dron but it didn't work either. Back on Amiodarone and relief back in NSR. Ablation scheduled for Dec. 30.
