incoming snow storm & anxiety

hi all - so we’re about to get dumped on where I live, 10-18 inches are expected and I’m experiencing so much anxiety. I guess I get worried what if I can’t get where I need to be. I took a beta blocker bc I started having a panic attack and my HR got to about 130 and was staying there. Does anyone else who suffers with anxiety have that happen? Where your heart rate gets high and feels like it’s pounding out of your chest? I know this forum isn’t for anxiety but I feel a lot of us who suffer with heart problems also suffer with anxiety, they go hand in hand and it’s an awful cycle.

I also want to say that was the highest it got and with the beta blocker I’ve gotten it to come down. Went to hospital last Friday and they said I had normal sinus tachycardia and to follow up with EP which I have a scheduled appt on the 21st. The issues started arising when I would wake out of my sleep with a racing heart. Some background info- was diagnosed with SVT AVRNT and had an ablation in July of 2020. I know if I can get ahold of my anxiety and panic I will be ok - it’s the anxiety that causes my heart symptoms but the heart symptoms that increase my anxiety. Horrible cycle 😭😣

Try valium only when your most stressed, it worked for me and i didn't get hooked. Although lots do.That's why doctors are reluctant to prescibe them. But when nothing else works, what choice do do have. Always check the drug interaction apps first.

You will worry less as time goes on,trust me

I dont know what Avatel said re Lucid dreaming . but I am a Lucid dreamer which makes you a very good candidate for hypnosis to cure / abate your anxiety.

Lucid dreaming means your conscious mind can direct what your subconscious mind is doing. Its just a matter of learning "tools via hypnosis" that you use when you feel stress coming on. I had two sessions of hypnotherapy and would regard my anxiety symptoms as 95% cured.

Anxiety is a worse beast than AF

Just wanna endorse what you say about hypnotherapy. Never used it for the issues you are discussing but I have used it for stopping smoking. I had 2 x 2hr sessions and have never smoked since ........... that was in 1988 !!

Hi SleeksYes, there is something in what you say. I am going to investigate alternative options because seeing expensive doctors doesn't mean miracle cures. I'm thinking hypnotherapy and acupuncture for starters. Has anyone tried these pulsating headbands you can buy now?

Yeah my anxiety makes my heart jump out my chest. Sometimes into full blown panic attack. Then my afib kicks in. I've started talking relaxation classes. Must work as I fall asleep in them.

Anxiety is awful, and so many of us have it. A panic attack can start an attack - I think my af began after a long period of anxiety. Try to control it however you can. I managed with mindfulness and one doctor gave me valium which I haven't used so far. I hope you feel better soon and can enjoy the holidays.
