so back from the ER after 5 hours, and I slept for 3 after they gave me 2 Xanax. But I’m back to being awake and my heart is still going fast. Not sure what to do, really. My EP is off for the weekend and I can’t seem to find a number for his nurses.
cannot control heart rate: so back from... - Atrial Fibrillati...
cannot control heart rate
I don’t think there is much else to do - keep well hydrated, ensure your electrolytes are topped up, rest and distract yourself. I am sure if they were concerned about you in ER room the would have advised accordingly.
Keeping busy I found was the best tactic.
Hi
Try not to worry. Worry makes one worse.
I changed Metroprolol to Bisoprolol
thru public heart specialist.
Then wentprivatewith suggestion of LOCUM at my clinic.
She had experienced AF.
I was introduced to CCB Diltiazem. Within 3 days was changed dosage from 180mg to 120mg.
Night now at Bisoprolol BB 1.25.
Today BP 131/70 77 H/R. Day. Night still stays at 47 H/R
Apart from having to stop after elevation or exertion., I am now controlled by 1 year.
Yesterday I received a Christmas Card from private Cardiologist and his wife!

Certainly not a doctor, but Xanax is a powerful drug which can affect the heart, though it normally slows it from what I read.
If your heart rate is consistent above 100, would consider a trip to A&E. Also, monitor your blood pressure.
Hope all settles down for you - best wishes.
