Is it possible that flecanaide used as a PIP has given me more episodes of Af continuously over the past 4 days ? Has anyone else had this same experience? Thank you in advance .

flecanaide
Thank you for your reply john6 . I think this may be the case . I have rang and left a message with my cardiologists office .
Hi Bushy.
As John rightly say's flec does work for many but not everyone. What dose do you take as a PIP ? It is possible for flec to cause atrial flutter too. This leads to a higher HR and feels like afib (in my experence). I think you have made the right call contacting your cardio. If it is flutter ask your cardio if it's worth carrying on but taking a small amount of bisoprolol (1.5mg) along side it. This might help to reduce the flutter but check with your medic first.

My cardio recommended a daily dose rather than a PIP as helps the heart to stabilise.
I was prescribed 50 mg flecanide twice daily and it caused me flutter. I stopped taking it against my cardiologist asvice(I got a new cardiologist). He advised trying pip and it worked like a charm to stop my episodes so everyone is different.
Flecainide exacerbated my afib so I had to come off it.
I use flecainide as a PIP and have done for 4 years and normally works well, however 2 weeks ago I took my 300mg in one hit to stop an AF episode ( 160 BPM my normal rate is 50BPM ) but it didn't work and had to eventually go to A & E (after calling 111) where they said it wouldn't have worked as it was a new condition for me of Sinus Tachycardia and the PIP was for AF . They said they wouldn't be able to give me anything else for a while but tried a liquid infusion and it worked within a hour. Point being , it's a minefield and hope I understood them properly! I am having an Echocardiogram in 2 weeks time.
I was taking flec and it made me have more episodes of afib. I went to another Dr and was told if you take flec you need to take another med such as in my case it's verapimil a calcium channel blocker. Without that the flec made me have atrial flutter which caused hr to get to 240 beats per minute. Flec also made me feel awful!! I got off of it and we found an old medication that worked perfectly. I had a atrial ablation o er a year ago and so far just one small episode when I was coming off the verapimil. Now I just keep bothers as pip. I had a awful time with all of the meds and found that propafenone and verapimil works!! Good luck to you.
Thank you for sharing your experience with me . I’m so glad you got your AF under control. Ive been having episodes for last 5 days anything from 5 mins to 2 hours never experienced this amount of episodes ever . I’ve had to take the flec . But I feel like then the episodes have come back with a vengeance.I’m in AF at the moment, have been since 5.30 last night . Ive just taken a bigger dosage of my bisoprolol hoping that will help. I really don’t want to take the flecanaide. So I’ll probs end up at A&E at some point . Thank you again for your reply. I feel so scared and alone . Dr never rang me back and still waiting for cardiologist to call . Feel like I’ve got no support. You take care .
I completely understand. I was getting it for days (sometimes 3 days continually and then a few days ok and it would start again). It was so frustrating, I felt horrible and couldn't do anything. Not sure if you have considered an ablation or not but that has been a blessing to me. It gave me life back and I am off the horrible meds.
I just recently asked my cardiologist about a PIP and he told me there are too many side affects and you don’t want that. I thought ok then.
I lasted about 4 days on Flec before stopping it. It made my AF a whole heap worse.
