AF and now pvcs.

Afternoon you guys,

Just had a great phone consultation with my amazing EP dr Markides from the Royal Brompton. He thinks he’s terminated my Af nicely for now. My heart function he said is great after all my tests, he just wants to keep an eye on my left and right ventricles as they are borderline enlarged, possibly because of the pvcs. He said if the burden becomes too large he will ablate the right ventricular outflow tract where these originate from. Had covid last week and before that the beats were very minimal, they’ve kicked off since but he thinks they will die down over the coming days and weeks. All nice and positive in my eyes.

Hope you’re all ok

Alex

That sounds really positive news, Achant! Really glad to hear it - and very glad that having covid didn’t derail the good work of the ablation. Onwards and upwards from here, hopefully! Thanks so much for letting us know. xx

Sounds good and feeling positive is always rather wonderful. Ectopic beats are hard work at times but generally safe enough but yours must be of a different order. Mine go through spells and can be really troublesome but this past week, fingers crossed, have reduced. My cardiologist put me on daily losartan, even though I have normal BP, to "protect" the ventricles over time - but I do also have left-bundle block, which might be why.

They are a proper pain, i sometime have them every other beat for hours. Since covid they have become a pain in the posterior. Knowing that I have one of the best Eps at the best hospital behind me is very reassuring.

The same here, at Leicester, although I’d have to pay to see him these days, I expect.

Dr Markides is the best! He was my EP years ago when I was having all sorts of arrhythmia problems pre- AF. If I hadn’t moved to another part of the country and could have him do an ablation I wouldn’t think twice. Whereas I’ve been thinking not just twice but many times and am inclined not to go down that route.
