Hi Everyone, help with test results?

good afternoon from America

some of you might remember me...I joined the group looking for comfort and the outpouring of kindness still amazes me! To be honest, i wasn't sure I would get so many helpful responses so . Thank you all again for that ...

lwanted to post these notes from test results to ask if anyone could explain them? Here what I got for my mom's results so far

Atrial arrhythmias: 57 episodes of svt, the longest being 18 beats. Rare pac's.

Ventricular arrhythmias: one 8 beat run of VT (vs svt with aberrancy). Rare pvc's, couplets and triplets

Number of manually triggered events: 1, associated with sinus rhythm

Conclusions: sinus rhythm. No atrial fibrillation seen.

As it say no AF. Some short runs of tachycardia (fast heart rate) and a few atrial ectopics and ventricular ectopics. Not a lot to worry about I would say.

I have had palpitations for over 20 years and I've always had normal test results.. is tachycardia and ventricular ectopics, heart palpitations? Sorry I don't know the terminology. Neither she nor I have had heart issues so... We are learning. The cardiologist hasn't contacted us yet so I thought I'd check in here while we wait.Thank you BobD!

Oh, and she never has symptoms which makes it tricky. She never feels her heart racing or anything. Her AFib episode which lasted a couple of hours had no symptoms either.. silent AFib I guess..

I'm not sure what those arrhythmias "mean" in terms of how your mum feels when she had them, but, luckily no AF was found (of course this can occur very infrequently and easily be missed).

Hopefully when i call the cardiologist on Monday- so...August 15, we will get an appointment quickly. She has one with her primary doctor, but i would have peace of mind speaking with her cardiologist too. My mom hasnt a worry in the world. She keeps saying that God is protecting her heart and that she will be fine. I sure wish I was as strong as her! Im also so glad that she doesn't worry as i know that would actually be bad for her health. She's quite the woman. 🙂

I will probably post all doctor updates here even if no one is interested in reading them lol. I like this group and found such support when i was seriously freaking out with anxiety over my mom's situation. I needed that help! 💜🙏

I should probably add that her echocardiogram and other tests this past November, everything came back normal and no damage to her heart. Also, perfect blood pressure every day without any medication for it. Her 2 afib episodes happened 10 months apart, each time she had an infection PLUS a run in with her ex husband. Both times were similar. When she had covid she didn't have any issues and she had illness from that for 68 days and her heart and blood pressure were fine. We are starting to wonder if anxiety is playing a big role in this.

Given her trust in spiritual protection, I wouldn't have thought anxiety was a culprit. Whenever the heart changes from its normal rhythm it is common, I believe, to become anxious (i.e. it's the way the mind reacts when the heart goes awry).

Your mum seems fine judging by her monitor results, although AF can be so infrequent that it might not have occurred during the tests. Is she still taking Eliquis?

Yes they have her on eliquis to be safe until all tests come back. I understand what you mean about the anxiety and her faith. It's like I said... It's typically only due to her ex husband who was abusive.. so.....

Ah - I missed that. How terribly sad - well, tragic - for your mum. She would have some stories to tell, I expect. We simply don't deal with what used to be called "toxic masculinity" at all well. I still see it all around, encouraged by fashion, music and similar.

In my opinion there is no need of any drug treatment since episodes of svt are brief. The VT episode is also brief. It shows some underlying atrial and ventricular myopathy and the causes would probably be a combination of high blood pressure, high blood lipids and high blood sugar or weight problems and age too. If she has any of these comorbidities, it would be time to start to change the life styles and medical treatments of these comorbidities to stop the progression of these arrhythmias. VT when it is becoming sustained then it is tough to treat. Discuss all of these questions with your ep. Both svt and vt can be treated pharmacologically or by ablation

Thank you very much for your thoughts. Nope, she has no comorbidities. No high blood pressure, it typically always comes back perfect. We monitor her blood pressure and heart rate at home a few times a day to be sure. She is a very healthy weight, very active and actually really strong! She has always eaten well other than cake here and there lol. There is one issue... and that's one of her kidneys. She has taken measures to try to reverse it or at least stop any progression of kidney disease. So, maybe a slight second health issue. Thankfully my mom has taken very good care of herself her whole life... No smoking, no drinking either. She also has good genes. This is all a mystery for us! And as you probably know. The not knowing WHY the two AFib episodes is nerve-wracking. Last time the doctor only kept her on eliquis until she had all of her tests done and they decided it was Sudafed that triggered it and perhaps a one time thing . So they said no medication was needed. With this bug bite infection we were here again with AFib episode 2. I'm really eager to get to the cardiologist and she's really eager to get off eliquis again. She has very nice skin and isn't happy with what it does to the skin also, the fear of bumping her head because she's SO klutzy! Perhaps it's an age thing 🤷‍♀️
