Amiodarone weaning

how do I stop taking amiodarone? It makes me feel so weak. My ablation for afib and a flutter was at end of Feb and I don’t have any rate issues now

I dont see the doctor til August.

Hi I was on Amidarone prior to my ablation. It’s pretty strong stuff. 6 weeks after my ablation I saw consultant and because I was still in normal rhythm he stopped the Amidarone.

I didn’t have to wean off it. I was told I could just stop it.

The reason I was able to just stop was because the Amidarone sits in your system for several weeks after it’s stopped.

It gradually leaves your system by itself so it’s very safe to just stop.

Call your consultants secretary and explain how you are and ask if you can stop. I took this over the period of my second cardioversion and did not have to wean myself off just stopped.

you need to speak to your consultant, before stopping, I was weaned off as I was on a high dose
