While I am taking Xeralto do I have to be careful of any foods in particular, like foods with Garlic, Ginger and curries etc. I can't find anything anywhere on the internet or on Bayer website (who distribute it here in Australia) Has anyone had any problems at all.

The joy of the DOACs against warfarin is that there are no food or dietary problems. Apart of course from ibuprofen and similar nsaids.

Xeralto, known as Rivaroxaban here in the UK, as BobD says, is not affected by dietary constraints in the same way as Warfarin although grapefruit and grapefruit juice is best avoided. What is important is that you take it with the main meal of the day because this is the best way to ensure that it’s absorbed into the system and therefore does it’s job. This also helps to minimise any stomach discomfort which is sometimes associated with this drug……

Thank you for that. That makes me feel better that I don't have to worry about what I am eating.

Hi - you must have received a patient packaging leaflet. This is a legal requirement and will give all of the information you need (sadly with lots you won't, but the section on interactions will be clear). This leaflet covers everything you need.

On it, though, so far as I know (but I'm not a doctor or pharmacist...) you will discover that there are no known food interactions with rivaroxaban. There were with warfarin, but not with the newer "DOAC" anticoagulants so, all else being equal, you can eat as before without fear - even grapefruit juice if that takes your fancy.

No you can't take DOACs with larger doses of herbal products. See "Adding Herbal Products to Direct-Acting Oral Anticoagulants Can Be Fatal": ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

This is about a man with AF and on DOACs who died from bleeding 3 days after he started drinking a tea with ginger and cinnamon. Small quantities as used in cooking are probably fine.
