Hi everyone. I have been having A F quite regularly starting at around 3.30 am. I usually take pill in pocket . 4 × 50 of Flecanaide. I have always reverted to N S R within 3 hours. Yesterday I had an episode. Took Flecanaide as usual and after 3 hours my heart rate came down into the 60s. Fabulous. Then it took a upward course and went up to 135. Panic. I phoned 999 and an ambulance was sent for me. I was given Bisopralol. After 5 hours my heart went back into N S R. I was then discharged with a prescription for Bisopralol and told not to take Flecanaide any more as I am 73 and it doesn't work well on the elderly. I took Bisopralol previously before Flecanaide and ended up in E R with Bracicardia. This is the photo of my fitbit of the episode.
Af and Flecanaide.: Hi everyone. I have... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Af and Flecanaide.
I would get in contact with your EP or Cardiologist about this change - it could either be the dosage of bisoprolol that they will change for you or they may want to change you to a different drug after your previous experience with bisoprolol. They should be informed so call either your cardio nurses or your specialists secretary to make sure.
Oh heck, I'm 78, been on flecainide regularly 50mg twice a day (increased last September to 100mg) by cardiologist just to control increase in various "palpitations" all very short lived. Increase has worked. I don't tolerate bisoprolol.I seem to remember AF that kicks off when you're asleep may be vagally mediated, in which case bisoprolol may not be ideal. I too think ou shoul try and contact cardiologists secretary. Was it a cardio reg who instigated the change in A and E?
