hi everyone, am having an AF attack after almost 18 months of nothing. Don’t know whether to sit it out or ring the doctors. Thanks
Atrial Fibrilation.: hi everyone, am... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Atrial Fibrilation.
I had my first extended attack three weeks ago since 2019, but my heart rate stayed at 90bpm, so I felt okay (it was evening), ignored things and it settled while I slept. Since then, I have had lots of ectopic beats and, yesterday prolonged mild tachycardia.
It's a pain!
Steve
Gillybean,
Sorry to hear the AF has returned. Im not a medic but if you have pains in your chest or are struggling to breathe then take yourself to A&E or ring 111.
If you can cope with the AF then inform your GP so they are aware of a change in your condition.
Hope you revert soon.
Oh dear, sorry. I think I would ring the doc if I was you. Best wishes.
So what do you think the doctor would do for you? On each occasion I've ended up in A&E with AF, they've done nothing useful with me, just left me on a trolley with a heart monitor running and keeping me 'under observation'.
Whilst I agree that if you are in distress or have any kind of chest pain you should immediately call for help, I wouldn't recommend it if it's tolerable. Try to relax, get involved in a good book or a movie, and rest until it stops.
I'm not medically qualified, so shouldn't be suggesting this.
Hi there, I was just telling my daughter she said call 111 I said all they will do is exactly what you have said. I always end up in there with diarrhoea and it’s horrible. My heart beat is a bit faint at times. Have just sent a long message to my Doctor for morning. Unless something happens today. I live on my own no family close.got my three gorgeous dogs so have to organise them. We shall see what today brings. Do you not do much when you are in AF or do you try and exercise. I a, feeling very sluggish. Xx
I used to try to 'carry on'. At one time, it came over me while at someone's party, and I had already arranged to take some other guests back to their hotel for them. I still drove then there and then back to my caravan where I was staying.
Nowadays, I don't find it so easy, and my wife tells me the best response I get is to watch something very absorbing on the TV. A good tennis match will work, as will a long interesting movie or a documentary. Once I get tired I go to bed and often wake in the wee small hours to find I'm back in NSR.
How are you now?
I had a session of mixed AF and Tachycardia a few weeks ago that went on into a third day. By that Sunday, I caved in and called 111 who sent an ambulance. 16 hours on a trolley that time, and then sent home at 5 am. It didn't do me any good, listening to other road/violence victims and suchlike screaming/crying all night. I should have stayed at home.
