As a wise man once said "Man should own a dog to make him feel like a god and a cat to remind him he isn't."

This is sooooo my Dewey … he has to have a different flavor of cat food each day or he will not eat it. Right now he is sleeping on my coffee table snoring … l have spoiled him too much!

My vet says cats don’t need variety and I should feed my old cat with tummy problems the same thing every day - a chicken cat food. This is rubbish, my cat has very eclectic tastes and though it generally doesn’t agree with him loves to try new flavours especially if it’s ‘human’ food. And if you give him a treat ie LikeLiks he goes on food strike the next day wanting more!

It was the happiest day of my cat owning life to discover this! After years of standing in the pet food aisle of the supermarket, among a whole group of people with furrowed brows, agonising over what 'Fluffy' might deign to eat this week, a cat breeder told me the same thing and advised me to feed my new kitten on one food. Eight years on and he's happily eaten the same thing, every day of his life!

Our cat arrives like magic at our lunchtime and sits on the step of the kitchen door awaiting his treat. A bit of chicken skin or rillettes . He is decidedly less keen on organic chicken skin than the non organic ready cooked roast chicken from Carrefour . He will not touch his catfood till he has had the treat - as if it was a "starter". At dinner time he arrives to see what we are having though he's quite fussy -won't touch offal, some days salmon is gobbled up other days sniffed at disdainfully and rejected. He adores prawns and will hang around looking reproachful after eating his one till they disappear from our plates .

Oh so very true. I don’t know why I bothered to spend so much time and money buying supreme this or luxury that only for himself to turn his nose up. I could do the family shopping quicker and cheaper. Then to add insult to injury I would find home drinking out of the loo or puddle when there was perfectly clean water in a bowl or eating something unmentionable he had found outside somewhere! 🐱

That is so true. I read somewhere recently that owning a dog is like having a baby, and owning a cat is like having a teenager. 😏

So true!!! I just adopted a new rescue cat who displays the same character. Thanks for the "comic relief" to this forum!

We always say the cats own the house, we just pay the mortgage 😁.

Funny but so true. 3 cats in my home. One will eat almost anything in cat food. The other two I never know if they'll eat or stick their noses in the air. At the store in the pet food aisle I meet so many people staring at the food as I do wondering if they'll eat what we buy them. To see that is comical in itself. Thanks Jean for the comic relief. Sometimes it's just what we all need in this crazy world we're living in. Take care.
