Hayfever and AF

I am suffering with very bad Hayfever and thinking of taking over-the-counter Loratadine to get some relief. However, I am slightly concerned with the side effects:- 1 in 10,000 fast or irregular heartbeat. Does anyone suffer with this or have taken Loratadine? Would be grateful for any help or comments please. Many thanks.

Been afraid to take loratadine or other oral antihistamines because of slight chance of sparking afib. Been using Pataday, brand name ophthalmic antihistamines one drop daily. Also Nasocort, nasal steroid once daily. Although the risk of taking loratadine is low, this regimen works well for me with bo apparent side effects...

Thank you. Can you buy these over-the-counter or are they prescription?

I have never taken an oral medication because it was contraindicated for me and I don’t tolerate anti-histamines of any type. I have a prescription steroid based nasal blocker which works for me.

Thanks. Think I will give it a go with the Loratadine before I seek further medical advice. Not a fan of anything that is of steroid. It would have to be a last resort as yourself. Keep well.

I’ve been taking Zyrtec/ceterizine for years, plus a nasal allergy spray (fluticasone/Flonase). I don’t think it’s triggered any heart issues. Check w your dr/pharmacist though.

Not an answer to your question, I asked my Ep about Avamys nasal spray and Cetirizine both of these I was assured would not be a trigger for AF

I've tried both Loratadine and Cetirizine and prefer Cetirizine. No issues with either but the Cetirizine is more effective.

I have an allergy to Loratadine, but do take Cetirizine with no issues.
